Plac Europejski is Warsaw’s newest square and part of the development of the impressive Warsaw Spire in the Wola district. The 49-storey high Warsaw Spire is located between the famous Palace of Culture and Science and the Warsaw Rising Museum. The positioning of the three buildings enabled the creation of a landscaped plaza with greenery and fountains and a 5-level garage beneath the complex.
Our proposal for Plac Europejski was to generate an “inviting feeling” and stimulate curiosity of the visitors by creating a strong contrast between the “urban setting of the corner” and the “soft park-like setting of the circular space”.
Multiple fountains and a flowing stream through the entire length of the square characterize the area, as do cafes and restaurants. Street art is on show and during the warm months, a summer cinema is available. This urban vibrant square has become the focal point of urban life in a busy upcoming district.
