On this impressive estate with private garden in New Jersey, the silent beauty of the rural countryside is combined with a sophisticated manor house by architect Quinlan Terry. The estate has a spectacular 180 degree view of unhampered fields and meadows against a background of colorful trees. The house is situated at the top of a hill and forms the center point to which all views return. With its elegant architecture and the warm color, the house really stands out in its surroundings.

A slightly sunken winding gravel driveway surrounded by a dune-like sea of Fountain Grasses (Miscanthus) approaches the gravel motor court. Boxed hornbeam trees and hedges (Fagus sylvatica) frame the courtyard. They continue the formality of the architecture and connect to several garden rooms on the sides. Blue limestone paths and crisp lawns surround a generously sized central water feature and lead you to the front door.

A dense green buffer of shrub rosesCrataegusViburnumHydrangea and American classics like AroniaChionanthus & Acer provide the desired privacy along the western boundary. This buffer with a rich variety of flowers and berries also serves as haven for wildlife with birds, bees and butterflies.

On the south of the house an alley of linden trees takes off diagonally into the distance and crosses a swirling composition of beech hedges that playfully break up the meadow and increase the illusion of depth and distance.

Curving paths of mown grass through the meadows offer beautiful views of the constantly changing landscape and the large collection of trees. These paths are an ideal way to optimally experience the estate.
